Mothers’ Union

Mothers’ Union is an international Christian membership charity that aims to demonstrate the Christian faith in action through the transformation of communities worldwide.

They work with people of all faiths and none in 83 countries to promote stable marriage, family life & the protection of children through praying, enabling and campaigning.

Their aims and objectives are:

  • To promote & support married life
  • To encourage parents in their role to develop the faith of their children
  • To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service
  • To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life & the protection of children
  • To help those whose family life has met with adversity

Members are not all mothers, or even all women. They are single, married, parents, grandparents. Mothers’ Union provides, for all four million members, a network through which they can serve Christ in their own community – through prayer, financial support & actively working at the grassroots level in programmes that meet local needs. At St Martin’s we meet in the Fellowship Room at 2.30pm on the first Thursday of each month, and termly for an evening meeting, (dates are publicised on the church bulletin). The meetings may be a discussion, or a speaker, and special times of year are celebrated. There are also monthly local and deanery prayer meetings, as well as a variety of diocesan planned events.

Campaigning and practical help go on throughout the year. For more details of local events www.mothersunioncoventry.com

Mothers Union members locally help organise Positive Parenting courses, support families who have a member in prison, help to give families in need a break, help with relief work when emergencies strike. Members also join in with national campaigns seeking to draw attention to social issues affecting the family such as domestic violence.
