Who we are

We are a friendly, family church, where all ages are welcome to worship together and to get to know Jesus better. Our mission is simply three words: Worship | Disciple | Transform.

We also have a leadership team which consists of our full-time vicar, two full-time curates, a part-time children and families worker, a part-time youth enabler, a licensed lay reader, two churchwardens, a treasurer, a lead on prayer, pastoral care and outreach.

Rev Matt Taylor | Vicar

Matt was ordained in 2011, before that his career career was in Design and Media working for CWR Publishing and managing their creative team. He has a BA in Fine Art, and has for many years been a semi-professional musician playing secular venues, but also has much experience leading worship at various churches/Christian events. After training at St Mellitus, his Curacy and Associate Minister’s post was in Northamptonshire, before moving to Coventry to take up the post at St Martin’s. He is married to Sandra who is a singer and is currently training to become a counsellor, she regularly helps with Sunday Worship. They have two grown up children who are both married, and they have recently become  grandparents, which they are loving.

Rev Matt Ford | Curate

Matt was ordained in 2021, having trained at St Mellitus College in London. Previously he worked as a Worship Pastor at St Marks Coventry, having been there since it planted back in 2017. Alongside that he also worked for a teaching agency which took him to primary and secondary schools in the Coventry and Birmingham area. Matt met Grace his wife when they both studied ‘Applied Theology and Performing Arts’ at Regents Theological College in Malvern. They graduated in 2013 and were married in August 2014. After studying Grace studied to be a primary school teacher and now teaches at a school in the Coleshill area.

Matt has always had a passion for sung worship and has been leading worship since he was 17 (once he finally got round to learning to play the guitar) and since then he has led worship in a variety of different contexts. He also has a passion for performing arts and toured with friends in a theatre company after studying. Something which he looks back on fondly. He also has a love for pool/snooker so you may find him on the pool table at the weekly youth groups that run at St Martins.

St Martin’s is fortunate to have a large family of volunteers who support and develop many activities such as homegroups, pastoral care, and different social events. For more details about our groups go to Our Groups or visit the What’s On page.

As part of the Church of England, we are governed by the Parochial Church Council (PCC). 2016-7. St Martin’s is a registered charity (number 1133962).
